Efficient Air Distribution System for
Heating, Air Conditioning, Heat Recovery & Air Purification

There are three main items used in delivering comfort with ComfortDisc. 1. Air Flow 2. Air Handling Units 3. Duct Distribution System

1. Air Flow:ComfortDisc

A concentrated column or jet of warmed or cooled air is delivered at “high velocity” out of the outlets. This jet is similar to the concentrated column of air flow you get from a hair dryer, but in case of ComfortDisc, without the noise!

The column of air delivered from the outlets has an effect on the room air. It causes the room air to be gently pulled it towards column or jet exiting the outlet. This causes gentle and even mixing of room air from up to four meters away.

The air movement towards the exiting column of air from the outlets is so slow it is unnoticeable by most people.

We recommend that the outlets are placed in the corners of a room or either side of a door or window out of any traffic areas so exiting the column of air is not blowing on anyone.

2. ComfortDisc Air Handling Unit

Using a combination of compact modules and accessories a complete indoor comfort and air quality system can be assembled. Modules available are supply fan, hot water, chilled water, heat pump, mixing box, heat recovery core and heat recovery exhaust fan. These can be assembled in a variety of configurations – horizontal, stacked horizontal or vertical.

Key to the successful delivery of the air into the rooms is the ComfortDisc air handling unit (AHU). This patented modular air handling unit connected together using four cam locks per module and a resilient gasket for an airtight seal.

There are many uses for the ComfortDisc, Residential, Commercial, Schools and Public buildings. With the modular configuration the ComfortDisc can be optioned as follows:

  1. Hot water heating using various heat sources such as oil or gas boilers, wood pellet boilers, geothermal heat pumps or air to air heat pumps.
  2. Heat pump heating and cooling using air to air heat pumps or geothermal heat pumps
  3. Chilled water cooling using chilled water or cooling only condensing units.
  4. Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) using the ComfortDisc HRV fan module and HRV core module.
  5. Hot water heating plus HRV.
  6. Chilled water cooling plus HRV.
  7. Heat pump heating and cooling plus hot water heating.
  8. Heat pump heating and cooling plus hot water heating plus HRV.

3. Duct Distribution System

ComfortDisc

Using various diameters of insulated supply duct (plenum) and flexible sound attenuating tubing, the air is delivered from the ComfortDisc air handling unit.

The duct distribution can be in many shapes from a simple straight line, a “H” type or a “T” type layout. One some installations the ducting resembles a spider where the legs drop down from the attic or floor above to serve the area below.

Zoning is an important part of ComfortDisc and up to 6 zones per system can be added.

Air is delivered through 125mm OD white outlets supplied by a 110mm OD flexible tubing with a 70mm inner core. The outlets feature a 90 degree bend in the fixing boot. This fixing boot has a flange built in for mounting the fixing boot to the nearest joist or rafter. It can also be ceiling mounted and the large fixing area acts as an excellent back plate above a suspended ceiling.
